Operating the telephone
The card contains a maximum of 100 units. The value per unit has been agreed with the individual customer, in consideration of the rate of the medium/operator chosen and the desired profit. As the value per unit is determined in the rate table, it would not be appropriate to list the value on the actual card, because this value may well be subject to change in connection with a potential, subsequent regulation of the rate table. It is therefore recommendable that only the number of units is printed on the card. As the telephone display shows number of units and not value, this is clearly the most appropriate solution. The only important thing in this context is to make sure that the user is familiar with the value per unit. A 100-unit card costing e.g. EURO 40,50 will have a value per unit of EURO 0,40. As the display shows number of units on a continued basis, it is important that the user is familiar with the value per unit. The easiest way to ensure this, is to place a distinct and appropriate information sign at the telephone.
The card is inserted into the telephone reader. The cards are disposable and cannot be used once the units have been spent. The telecards can be applied only for the specific phone(s) for which they have been coded.
